Define what earns a place on your list
A repeatable process begins before a slate is available. Choose a small set of factors you will evaluate every time, such as team context, schedule, availability, and the source of your supporting information.
Writing the criteria down reduces the pressure to make a decision because an event is popular or because a recent result feels significant.
Record the decision before the outcome
Keep a concise record of the prediction, your reasoning, and the confidence or pick size you selected under the challenge rules. The goal is not to create a perfect forecast; it is to preserve a fair record for later review.
A record also helps you notice whether your selection process is drifting. If you cannot explain why a pick met your standard, it may not belong in the process.
Review in batches and refine one variable at a time
Reviewing a group of picks lets you identify recurring gaps without overreacting. Look for whether you applied your criteria, stayed consistent with your sizing plan, and gave yourself enough information to evaluate the decision.
Change one part of your process at a time, then give the change enough observations to assess. That is more useful than replacing a complete framework after a short sequence of outcomes.
